[Letter] 1877 Jan. 8, Alexandria, Va. to dear Bro. [John A. Broadus] / J.M.B. 1877.

Writes about "Rosa's letter of several days ago, giving an acocunt of the trip home." The train ran out of wood and water in a remote area between towns. "Our girls had some of Aunt Lottie's food and did not suffer. Other passengers were hungry. Got to Reidsville at seven a.m. Tuesday having had six engines in service. At Reidsville, the railroad authorities ordered meals in abundance ... You have no idea how anxious we were from Monday noon until Tuesday night, when we got word they were at Danville."
